Introduction of the city Beroun

Royal town Beroun with its 18,5 thousand inhabitants is the gate to two protected landscape areas - Český kras and Křivoklát. The first written report is in the document of Přemysl Otakar II from 1265. The settlement was found at the ford over Mže river in prehistory in the 13th century. Important mercantile path from Prague to Plzeň and Bavory in Germany went through it. The old mercantile road is replaced by D5 highway and Beroun became attractive for investors and tourists.

The surrounding nature of Český kras with its historical sights is a paradise for bikers, horse riders and tourists, rock climbers take up to the limestones, paddlers the river Berounka. You can make trips to castles Karlštejn, Beroun or Točník, all of them are close to Beroun. Tetín, is connected with the roots of the Czech history - the castle was the seat of the first Czech princess Ludmila.

One of the most well-preserved rest of rampart in the Czech republic includes to gates - Prague and Pilsner, both are opened for public. The heart of the city, Husovo square with old houses with baroque gables and psedo-baroque city hall, has undergone reconstruction. Beroun was awarded the Historical city of 2009 because of its care of landmarks.

Town Hill with a lookout and a bear-home is a big attraction. There have been living 3 little bears, heroes of the evening fairy tale Matěj, Vojta and Kuba.

Thirteen years ago a tradition of typical medieval craftsmen was brought back to life - potters belonged to the most appreciated and respected craftsmen in the Medieval Age. Thousands and thousands of tourists come to Beroun at the second weekend in September to see potters and ceramic masters. During the 27 years of its existence, the traditional music festival Talichův Beroun made itself famous.

There are many possibilities of doing sports too. Sporcenters in Beroun offer different kinds of sport like badminton, tennis, beach volleyball, soccer, basketball,achery, squash, bowlin, fitbox, spinning, petanque... Golf Resort Beroun with eighteen pits has been prepared for golfers since last year. Swimming centre Tipsport laguna is the true paradise of relaxing. You can also find in-line route and one of the most modern skateparks in the Czech republic.
