The game begun according the expectations. Team Canada controled the puck and in 5th minute Danny Larocque scored with the deflection of Corbeil´s shot. But five minutes after Julian Walker moves to right side and with big slap shot tied the game.

The game was really up-and-down. Walker passed to scoring Mäusli but after one minute later Fred Corbeil with easy screen shot finds the space under goalie´s pad. The score was 2:2 and the Swiss gets power play but they totally failed. John Clewlon went into the breakaway and with experienced conclusion under the cross bar took the lead for Team Canada.

In the beginning of the second half the Swiss returned to lead. After eighteen seconds Diego Schwarzenbach sent the puck under Bradette´s glove and than scored Ganz. Team Canada called for recognition of the goal in the another important moment but the referee refused so the Canadians tied the game again in 28th minute thanks to Thomas Woods.

The stunning game continued. John Clewlon with shot between goalie´s pads approached his team to advance. Two minutes before the end of second half the Swiss converted their final pressure and from the circle Daniel Rubin led the game to the overtime.

"We had a bench of nine or ten guys. If you control the game, it is not tiring, but when you have to rush around, chase the puck, it is going to take a toll. We had a couple of bad moments today," explained John Clewlon unexpected defeat.

In the overtime the Canadians relied to the solid defence and quick counterattacks but their passive game was wrong. The Swiss forechecked and in 45th minute Thomas Mäusli with his rebound started explosion of Swiss joy.

"I am very happy but it does not matter who scored. We won and we are in the semifinals and it is important. Everything is opened and of course I would like to advance to the final," said the author of the golden goal Mäusli.

In the semifinals Team Switzerland is going to play with the winner of the game between Team France and Team Germany.

Richard Ropchan (trenér Kanady): We exchanged scoring chances throughout the whole game, both teams played really well, but just the last one who scores was going to win this game. It was tight all the time, we were going back and forth and it is a disappointing loss for us. We really thought we can win the game, had some momentum at times, but give up the goal and then had to fight back. It was a shame that we had a shot on the goal line disallowed in second half, I think it would have changed the momentum a little bit. It was one of those good, tight games where only one team can win.

Christian Wittwer (trenér Švýcarska): Evereyone saw that it was the tough game. It was balanced, both team could win. I am happy, because we won even so we missed some players. I brought on the second goalie to the second half who refreshed us and with great saves help us. In the team we have a lot of rookies, the semifinal participation is huge success for us!
