AUS – ARG 4:1: Team Argetina failed in the important game

The Argentinians after mornings victory over Team GB got very good chance to advance to the quaterfinals but their dream was almost destroyed by Australian kangaroos. Team Argentina in the very important game totally failed and against Team Australia were helpless. So now the Group C situation is very complicated and about two quaterfinalists will be clear after final round.

The Australians from the open face off reigned on the floor. They converted their first opportunity when Michael Haynes found open space in the Argentinian defence and he scored the leading goal. South Americans could not get into the game for long time and they allowed the second goal. Garvin Best moved from the left side in front of the goal and with precisely shot stroke the top right corner.

"We scored some goals and then controlled the game. The whole team deserves credit," said Australian player Michael Haynes.

After then the Argentinians recovered. At first Petasny with big luck decreased on the one goal difference and then went into breakaway forward Guzman but instead of equalization he hit the Smart´s glove.

Since that Aussies played very well in defense and did not allow many shot to Argentina. And what is more, they created good opportunities for scoring. Fast Belic hit with the slap shot only the cross bar behind Fernandez.

The deciding moment came at the end of 15th minute. While playing power play, Aussies combined very well and Collins hit just under the cross bar. It was all over Australia at the rink in Beroun. They added another goal scored by Belic. It was deflected to the net by one defending player though. Team Argentina could cut the lead, but Marengo hit only the post.

„It was obvious tha we played the hard game against Team Great Britain today morning and the opponent was better physically prepared and it won deserved,“ described the game author of Argentinian goal Petasny.

Leonardo Marengo (Team Argentina coach): Unfortunately it was obivous that we played the tough game against Team Great Britain today morning. Even so tommorow we are going to fight against Team Mexico for the best end of this tournament.

David Haynes (Team Australia coach): We had much better start into the game than in a previous game. This time it was us who scored the first goal and gradually more goals came. We created a sufficient advantage and controlled the game. Finally we played the way we are used to. I am very glad we won this game.
