We would like to entertain fans with a great style of play, premises Roman Heindl, coach of the Czech national women team

The women national team of the Czech republic has been busily prepairing for the upcoming world championship which takes place in Beroun. The head coach Roman Heindl will go through his second world championship. He brought his players to silver medals at the previous one in Varese. He founds that success to be his greatest one. After training camp he will announce the complete roster.

The World championship starts in less than a month. Has the nomination been closed already or are you still making decisions about some posts?
I would say, for me, the final roster is almost clear. I will tell the players at the camp on weekend, June 20th.

Do you have an idea who to put in the goal as number one?
We have two experienced goalies, who have played at the national level and both of them signed below the successes of the national team. I don´t want to talk about somebody being number one or number two. But, in my head, I already know who the starting goalkeeper will be.

How long will the national team stay together before the World Championship and where will you place the training camp?
We have been training every weekend since June 8th, we have two practises every Saturday and Sunday. In the morning we train sixty minutes at the rink – we´re working especially on the individual skills of each player, and in the afternoon, in a ninety minutes practise we work on combination, some variants of the play and tactics. We will have some friendly games with boys as well. In this form, we will have been training by June 26th-27th and after two free days we will meet in the evening of June 30th in Beroun again and team up before the beginning of the World Championship July 3rd.

Is the roster composed of the players from the Czech league or do you count on some players playing abroad?
The roster is shaped by ice hockey players from the Czech league and we don´t have any player who only plays inline hockey. Only one of the players of this years nomination plays overseas.

Teams from overseas and team of the Czech republic have placed themselves in the first three spots regularly. What are the main differences of their and your style and is there anything you have in common?
For some people, especially those who are interested in hockey, it is a big surprise that our women players don´t play at the top level in ice hockey but they reach a medal in inline hockey every year. The main reason is our clever play of inline hockey which isn´t the sport of power. Our players have gained a lot of experience and they can compare themselves to players from overseas. Both Canada and the USA are very strong in technical skill and doggedness, they exceed in the endeavor not to be defeated and play every game with the highest effort till the end.

According to the draw, you will play top seeded Canada, incalculable Finland and greenhorn China in your group. How can you describe them.
Canada is the best quality team, I have spoken about it in the previous answer. Our players have managed to beat them twice in the last two years and I believe we can do it for the third time! We have a big respect but we are not afraid of them! Finnish players are not great skaters and don´t have great tactics but they are strong in defense. Their directness and the way they go for goal is dangerous. But I believe that with our combination play we can overcome their defense and claim the best spot in group. We do not know anything about the Chinese but we can expect a team with a fast play and we will see if they can surprise us.

What advantages and disadvantages do you expect from the home atmosphere?
One thing is clear – we play at home. Parents, relatives and friends of the players will attend those games and will create huge pressure on the players. I can only hope the players can give beams and perform as we are used to seeing them. The effort of reaching the best and maybe getting a medal could be the other thing that will tie their hands. I think the Czech language would be the biggest advantage and I believe in great support of fans that helps us overcome the pressure.

Czech fans will expect another medal after the previous successes. Do you have any formula for achieving another great success?
It is really important to overcome the mental pressure. I hope we can do that and entertain our fans with great play that will bring another success and another medal.

What do you think to be an achievement?
I would be very happy for any of the medals. The gold medal game is our ambition and many factors will decide it. I will be hoping and willing to turn those aspects into our success. We will see but we would really be happy for any of the medals, as i said.
