You do not hear much about them, but they are indispensable: team hosts

You can always meet team hosts in the arena near the teams they take care of. Who are they and what are they doing? All the teams except Czechs and Slovaks have their own team host. Let`s introduce them.

Eliska Svecova, team host of Canada: I got this job through my Dad, who is a chief of the Hockey Arena in Beroun. I wanted to find some part time job for summer, so he helped me. I have a chance to meet new people and improve my English. I take care of Team Canada. They all are absolutely modest, they have no special requests. I do just the bare necessities fot them. It is nice experience.

Barbora Maskova, team host of China: I saw advertisement about this job at local newspapers. I speak English and Spanish. I should have taken care of Team Spain, but one team host did not come, so I had to switch the teams. In the men`s cathegory I should take care of Team Mexico. Meanwhile I study foreign affairs and diplomacy, so I have some experience in it. Important is to be communicative, to be able to solve various problems and do not make a big deal out of things.

When we picked up team China at the airport, a first problem emerged right away. They did not get their equipment. Than we went shopping in Prague where players bought a tea kettle because they forgot theirs at home. We also went to buy SIM card for the phone so the players can be in contact with their families. The Chinese were also shocked that there is no climatisation at their hotel, because there is very hot in the place thay live during the whole year. I communicate with their interpretress, because none of their team can speak English. I have to be at their every game and be ready to solve any problems which emerge. Yesterday we went to Prague and saw all the sights and interesting places there.

They really enjoyed it.


Jan Marx, team host of Team USA: I already have been part of such an event and I really liked my work. So I answered the advertisement about team hosting. I take care of the Team United States. I try to communicate with them as much as I can and fullfil all their requests. For example, their head coach works as a fireman and asked me, , if he can talk with the local fire-brigade.

Barbora Kosinova, team host of France: I was asked by the mayor of Beroun to do this work. Because I can speak French quite well, I take care of Team France. I did not need to solve many problems with French players, they do not give many requests to me.

Jan Kosina, team host of Finland: I was asked by my acquaintance to do this job. It is quite interesting job and a perfect experience which I use in the future. I did not solve any tougher problems with Team Finland and I hope it remains this way.

Katerina Vabrouskova, team host of Spain: I got this job through the mayor of Beroun city. I speak fluently Spanish. I do this job because I like it and it is a good experience for me. I work here maround 12 hours a day, I am always with my team and have to be able to take care of everything what is needed.
