We are really enjoying stay in Beroun, said Charlotte Nicholson

The oldest player of Team America doesn´t look like a typical hockey player. Nice blond-haired girl with a friendly smile and behaviour. Charlotte Nicholson is one of three captains of Team USA and according to her words she really enjoys Beroun´s tournament together with her collegues. „We really like walking in Beroun, walking here and there, going for ice cream... We are really enjoying our stay in Beroun,“ said Charlotte.

When did you arrive in the Czech Republic?
We arrived two days ago. We have been visiting Prague and we are also really enjoying our stay in Beroun. Personally, I haven´t been in the Czech Republic before, but I always wished to. I wanted to see Prague, which is awesome, as well as small towns in the whole country.

How do you like the host city?
We really like walking in Beroun, walking around, going for ice cream... We are really enjoying the stay in Beroun.

How many times did you have practice with your team?
We met in Philadelphia and had two practices with girls in America. We had one practice in Beroun. I don´t think that, with a new system of game that we want to play, we can manage three practices. On the other hand, we will try it in our first games, move on and make it set.

What is the situation concerning popularity of in-line against ice hockey in USA?
In America, there are certainly more fans of ice-hockey, but popularity of in-line is growing, people watch games on TV, they search information on the net.

And what about you personally? Do you play ice-hockey as well?
I only do in-line hockey. I tried ice-hockey a few times, but it wasn´t good. In-line hockey was always my sport. I played it for thirteen years, it is very long time, isn´t it? (laugh)

What does it mean for you that you are one of three team captains?
It is my sixth year on the team and first year as a captain. It is big deal for me. I am the older one of the team, I help younger players. It is very exciting. We don´t have stand ups before the team, but we talk personally to girls, try to help them, tell them also what the dress code is. (smile)

What will be your weak and strong aspect of your game?
We have never played together so we have to get accustomed, make friendships to build a team. We´re very talented individually, we are learning a new style, new system of game and moreover, we have excellent shooters, excellent defenders and forwards. We will be very strong at the end of the tournament.

What will you invite spectators to come and see your games for?
Come and see a talented, flashy and hard-working team doing an amazing sport. Certainly I wouldn´t have missed our game against the Czech Republic.

Finally, what are your goals for this championship? To be champions?
We want to win gold, for sure. I don´t know if we are favorites, Czech girls are excellent, but certainly we want to win.
